Antique Brass? The bright white stripes, but also very heavy and non-magnetic??
Hello, I have a pair of antique brass / marble electrified candelabra lamps dating from 1960 and for which my father paid a lot and I always thought it was useful. I read somewhere to test something and I was disappointed leaving gray-white glossy under the Lacquer and continues to remain so. It is too heavy and adheres not a magnet. Sounds like a kind of zinc alloy, usually called pot metal or white metal. This would explain the color, weight, and the fact that it will not attract a magnet. Magnets attract objects that contain iron.

Good morning. I want to sell the Buddha, but we need to know a little more on the first. I do I am a Buddhist, and Buddha has been in my family for a long time (very strange, because none of us are Buddhists.) Certainly not copper, it looks like brass. It could be a Chinese version of the fable Buddha http://www.religionfacts.com/buddhism/deities/laughing_buddha.htm I do not think the level of detail and craftsmanship is great, so I guess $ 15-50. Lack do not suggest that the patina is old. It seems strange that all gaps are empty instead of having a shadow. The value of metal in a junkyard would $ 6. They paint is of a woman in a blue dress, lying on a couch. This is an antique. I'm not near a house comments and I'm not lucky in typing the name. Is anyone know a site, perhaps?
