Buddhist Temple
What is the normal practice and a Buddhist temple ritual in America.?
I know something about traditional Buddhist rituals, but would like Learn the differences, if any, in the Buddhist temples located in the states.
Ehhh, the problem is that there no "typical" Buddhist Churches of America ... As there are no Christian churches typical services offered by Catholic Protestant or the other dozens of Christian traditions may be very different. There are many different Buddhist traditions, many of they do not call the place of a temple, but can also be a Buddhist center. Each tradition has its own practices and rituals. The best way to know is to do not be shy and not inside!

Tara Thangka
Where can I find good, clear line drawings for thangka's?
I can draw the iconometric grids etc but at this point I'm concentrating more on other details and am a bit lazy. So I need good line drawings (no colour or shading!), preferably from the Tibetan traditions, that will print clearly on an A4 sheet without becoming blurry & pixelated. Most needed are 4-armed Avalokitesvara (Chenrezig), Orange Manjushri and the Green and White Taras, but all peaceful deities would be helpful (I think I have enuff of the other kind). Thanks in advance... Tashi Delek!
You could maybe check in Lokesh Chandra's dictionary of Buddhist iconography...
But better try out at a library first, the whole set of 15 volumes costs about 750 $...

Sit Buddha
Are women allowed to sit in front of the Buddha's temple (in Thailand)?
Yes, for sure. If you are looking at either viewing the interior of the temple or to visit the monk or to pay homage at the temple. You have to be dressed conservatively (as sign of reverence) to visit the temple. Generally your arms and legs are to be covered if you wish to enter (meaning no sleeveless tops or shorts). No footwear is allowed inside the holy ground. This is the general rule. By the way, photo-taking may be restricted in certain temples, so do ask the monks before taking any. They will let you know what can be taken in the temple. Again general rule is you can snap anything except the Buddha Image. But do ask first as this varies from temple to temple.
There are many temples to visit in Thailand, and they are different from each other. Do look up the more interesting and beautiful ones before you visit. Quite a number of them are located on high elevation giving you a nice scenery too. Enjoy yourself.
